SAM Sustainability Tool
In conjunction with the latest Yearbook, SAM has developed a new interactive "Sustainability Tool", which provides further insights into SAM's annual sustainability assessment. The Tool provides answers to the following questions:
- How does a company shape up versus others in terms of sustainability?
- Which companies have achieved Gold, Silver or Bronze Class distinctions?
- Which companies have qualified as SAM Sector Movers by demonstrating the greatest relative improvement in sustainability compared to the previous year?
The company list offers an overview of the top 15% of the companies in terms of sustainability in each sector. In addition, it allows to identify companies that have achieved Gold, Silver, or Bronze distinctions or that have been identified as SAM Sector Leaders. Furthermore, all the information can be filtered by country and sector, thus, providing additional functionalities to analyze SAM's research results.
Statistics
Countries/SectorsThe Sustainability Tool also provides different statistical insights into the distribution of the SAM distinctions across countries, regions and sectors. For example, it allows to create charts that show which country is home to the largest number of Gold Class companies or which sector comprises the highest amount of Silver Class firms.
Sustainability Scores
In addition, the Sustainability Tool enables readers to calculate average sustainability scores for user-defined perspectives on SAM's research. Tool users are provided access to total sustainability scores, the underlying scores for the three sustainability dimensions (economic, environmental and social); as well as the individual criteria scores that constitute the most granular level of SAM's assessment. Users can calculate averages on each of these three levels of scores for regions, countries and sectors and thus, for example, identify the country with the best scores in the area of environmental reporting or the sector that takes a lead in terms of corporate governance.
